New York Metropolis mayor Eric Adams accused of sexual assault – JURIST


New York Metropolis mayor Eric Adams was accused of sexually assaulting a Florida lady three a long time in the past, in line with a summons filed with the Supreme Courtroom of New York on Wednesday.

The summons names Eric Adams, NYPD, the NPYD transit bureau, and three unknown entities as co-defendants. The plaintiff’s claims are introduced underneath New York’s Adult Survivors Act. The summons alleges that “Plaintiff was sexually assaulted by Defendant Eric Adams in New York, New York, in 1993 whereas they each labored for the Metropolis of New York.” A criticism has not but been filed.

Mayor Adams denied any wrongdoing to journalists in a video posted to X. Adams said, “this by no means happened, and I don’t recall ever assembly the accuser.”

Governor Kathy Hochul signed New York’s Grownup Survivors Act into legislation in Might 2022, which expires immediately. The act permits victims of sexual abuse to file a civil lawsuit towards their abusers previous the state’s statute of limitations.
